Every year around this time, we like to celebrate our favourite moments from the past 12 months. From the silliest, to the funniest and a whole lot in between. Thanks to buzzfeed and the likes, 2013 was the year of spoon feeding information via the powerful force of the list, so what better way to kick off our end of year celebrations than with a list of our own! Any moment you think were left out? Leave us a comment below, we’d love to hear your highlights!
While I was compiling this list, I noticed that Kim and Kanye were appearing a lot.
It seems that this was the year that Kimye decided to grab by the scruff of it’s neck and shake it ’till it begged for mercy. Every moment they made was documented and steadily got more and more ridic. It’s as if they were betting against themselves to see what it took to make twitter implode.
Let’s take a look at some of their finest PR stunts…
Kim at the Met Gala in that dress. ( I was most outraged by the fact that the theme was punk and KANYE WORE A TUX AND KIM WORE UPHOLSTERY FABRIC) Although, thinking about it again, going against the man is kind of the punk ethos…maybe they were making an anarchist statement this whole time?! Mind= blown.
Understated chic at it’s finest.
Uh huh Honey…
And now on to the next one….
It is estimated that at least 87% of all conversations this year started with the question “Are you watching breaking bad?!”
This year we said goodbye to our favourite meth heads Walt and Co. . The finale gave fuel to endless taxi driver conversations , ice breakers at parties and awkward lift encounters with your boss.
Britney told us to work.. and also rhymed “France” with “mansion”.
We all got sucked in by it’s repetitive Hey Hey Hey’s and the bright lights in the video, but once everyone (with a soul) had a listen to the lyrics they were singing it became clear that the whole thing seemed a bit.. well.. rapey. Or at the very least alluded to something sordid and not cool at all. Still, “Blurred Lines” was one of the biggest hits of the year and the video got a squigillion views on youtube. Even more depressingly, one of the models from the video was names Esquire’s Woman of the Year. Sigh.
Cara D. was EVERYWHERE. Seriously, check under your bed, she’s probably there.
Beyonce broke the internet with her surprise album release. You go to bed thinking the world is not too bad after all, and you wake up to utter CHAOS. People hashtagged till their fingers fell off. The power of Bey.
So good to me:
Why’d you only call me when you’re high? :
Kings of Leon
Oh and this happened.
